Tasting Notes:

Our 2005 Merlot shows exceptional richness and depth with aromas of plums, roasted sage and sweet black cherries framed by mocha and toasted oak. The wine has a soft entry with notes of blackberry pie and fine tannins adding to the long finish.

Production Notes:

The grapes were hand-picked and carefully sorted before undergoing extended maceration and native yeast fermentation. We like to blend hillside fruit with bench and valley floor fruit to give the wine added complexity and texture.

Winemaker Notes:

The 2005 harvest was one of great extremes. A very wet spring provided a lot of potential for a big harvest of very juicy fruit. A fantastic Indian summer resulted in long hang times allowing the grapes to mature at a leisurely pace giving us outstanding character and added complexity. The result at harvest was thick skins and great flavors at moderate alcohol.

Food Pairing:

Our favorite pairings include roast duck with a plum sauce, and a selection of sharp cheeses.
